JEDWARD: WATCH OUT ANT AND DEC

ABOVE: Industry experts predict John And Edward could follow in the footsteps of And and Dec
24th November 2009

By Katie Begley

X FACTOR rejects Jedward have warned: “Watch out Ant and Dec.”

John and Edward Grimes were finally given the boot from the talent show on Sunday.

And as industry experts predicted they could rake in £10million they have admitted they would love to follow in the footsteps of the Geordie duo.

The lads are determined to make a pop album with the help of show mentor Louis Walsh, 57.

But with top agents battling to sign them up for a TV deal they reckon they can be as big as I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec, both 34.

The 18-year-olds screamed with delight at the prospect of becoming global stars. John said: “We love Ant and Dec.

They have been so successful because everyone loves them. They are unique and do their own thing, like us.

“And like us they started out as singers and we loved them as PJ And Duncan. Their song Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble was brilliant.

“If we are like them that would be unbelievable. You never know. Watch out Ant and Dec!

“Our main focus is music though, that’s why we came into this competition. We want to be pop stars.

“In the future we would love to do different projects as well but for now it’s all about our music.

“It would be amazing to release a pop record and tour.”

PR guru Max Clifford, who has worked with X Factor boss Simon Cowell, said Jedward could extend their 15 minutes of fame with the right help.

Max, 66, said: “If they play their cards right and have someone looking after them, who knows?

“They could earn millions in the next few years. No-one from The X Factor has got into TV before so they could have that niche for themselves.

“But it’s really important that they have someone behind them who knows what to do, someone like Claire Powell, who’s done a good job with Peter Andre.”

Agent Claire, 32, said she would meet with the twins if they called her.

She added: “They are an extremely good brand, something England is lacking at the moment. I would be happy to meet them.”

Jedward became the most talked about act on this year’s series and divided public opinion with their tuneless routines.

Fans booed them and even Cowell, 50, described them as “vile little creatures”.

But they won him over.

Edward said: “From day one people were iffy with us and now they have a soft spot for us. We didn’t change, we just continued what we were doing.”

John added: “I think it’s so cool that we managed to turn Simon. He called us vile, but by the end he said he would miss us.”
